SSgt Gallaghan was born on June 13, 1983, in the city of Santa Cruz, California. At an early age, SSgt Gallaghan moved to Colorado Spring, CO where he graduated high school and enlisted in the Marine Corps on 22 February 2002. Pvt Gallaghan completed boot camp on 26 November 2002 at MCRD San Diego, California. Afterwards, he attended Marine Combat Training in January of 2003 and upon completion was shipped to NAS Pensacola to start his MOS training. While at NAS Pensacola, PFC Gallaghan completed his studies earning him the 6311 preliminary MOS. PFC Gallaghan then reported to NAMTRAMARU, New River, NC where he attended 6322 MOS School. LCpl Gallaghan graduated NAMTRAMARU on 30 October 2003 as a CH-46 Avionics Technician.
LCpl Gallaghan’s first duty assignment was aboard MCB Camp Pendleton, attached to HMM-268. While serving with HMM-268 from November 2003 to December 2006, LCpl Gallaghan served on two deployments to Al Taqqadum, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). During his time at HMM-268, LCpl Gallaghan was promoted to Corporal and became qualified as an Avionics Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI). …show more content…

While attached to HMM(T)-164, he was promoted to Sergeant and attained the qualification of Avionics Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR). In July of 2008, Sgt Gallaghan executed TAD orders to Sergeants Course aboard Camp Pendleton. During his tenure at Sergeants course, he executed orders back to HMM-268.
