Zeus Salazar is an historian and an author of the essay “A Legacy of the Propaganda: the Tripartite View of Philippine History”. In this own work, he differentiate the western definition of history and indigenous perception of what history or kasaysayan is. In the western culture, history is different from what the meaning here in the Philippines. In French histoire means inquiry. In the Gothic witan which means knowledge. And for the German Geschichte from the word geschelen means to happen. In the Philippines, history in Tagalog does not mean to knowledge, search for information or what happened in the past. Del Pilar, Graciano Lopez Jaena and Dr. Jose P. Rizal. The triumvirate has different point of view in terms of the pre-colonial, colonial and the postcolonial of Filipino’s history and future. For Marcelo H. Del Pilar, his point of view is, in the pre-colonial, The Filipinas (or the Mother Philippines) has its own civilization and for able the Spain to make it civilized, it used blood compact. In the Colonial View, in order to make the Filipinas civilized, the first is to collect tax through encomenderos and even the friars should also pay. In the Post-Colonial the reformation is better than the revolution, resulting to the friars to go. For Graciano Lopez-Jaena, the Filipinas is in the primitive state and civilization is an enlightenment for the Filipinos. The propagandist that I mostly agree is Dr. Jose P. Rizal. Before the Spanish came in the Philippines, I believed that the Filipinos has its own civilization like Dr. Jose P. Rizal. On the research of the archaeologists, there is proven artifacts that made the Philippines has its own civilization, like the barangay which is known as the first civilization of the Philippines. I also believed that during the Spanish stay here in the Philippines, there is a cancer spread in the Philippines. This cancer is not literally means an illness but a disease spread in the people in the Philippines that they are willing to betray their own country for the benefits of the other country and their own selves. And the last one is that I also believed like Dr. Jose P. Rizal is that to attain the freedom revolution is needed through reforms. The KKK led before by Andres Bonifacio has formed because of Jose P. Rizal. The Filipinos fights for the freedom, first through reforms. Through reforms they spread the true state of the Philippines at that time, the Filipinos know about it and they started revolution against Spain. Like Zeus Salazar, I agree most to Jose Rizal than Marcelo Del Pilar and Graciano Lopez
