Philosophies of Ancient China

There were three philosophies in Ancient China: Confucianism, Daoism, and Legalism. Confucianism is an ancient Chinese belief system, which focuses on the importance of personal ethics and morality. The Daoist community believes that nature, not people, ultimately controls how things change. Therefore, humans and their rules are less important. They also see the Confucianist emphasis on culture and civilized society as unnecessary and rather unnatural.
Legalism is based on the viewpoint that for a ruler to maintain order in society, people must obey a set of strict laws and those in authority (the rulers and government officials). Legalist philosophers thus created a system of punishment and reward for certain behaviors. In Confucianism, there were three main beliefs Filial piety, humaneness, and ritual. Confucianism was founded in the Zhou Dynasty in ancient china. One of the main reasons Confucian ethics had a significant impact on traditional Chinese society is that it influenced religions, governments, and education. Many aspects of the Confucians idea can still be found in the Chinese people's way of life today. The most obvious is its influence on the family unit. The positive effect of Confucian values on interpersonal trust, interpersonal justice, and information sharing has much to do with social order and morality, which are considered to be the core Confucian
