Physical education should be a common core subject and as a future education teacher it is important for us to take action. As a teacher you are a big role model in the the students life it is crucial that we provide them with the support that they need.
In schools today students often have a negative attitude towards physical education class. Students have this negative outlook on PE class for multiple reasons such as not being interested or scared to meet expectations. If the teacher comes in with a positive attitude that will impact the students directly. It was proven that if the students have a positive attitude towards physical education they were more interested in the class (Laker). Walking into the classroom in a high school you can see the interest go down. Student’s interests in PE does decrease as they grow older in the school system. By giving the students choices it lets them pick what they want to do in class therefore increasing their motivation and attitude towards the class that day. According to Ennis, self efficacy is key within anything in life but specially physical education. If a student thinks they cannot complete a task then their attitude will always be negative.
