As an educator, it is important for me to be a positive role model in the lives of children in my presence. As a good educator, I would establish a healthy relationship with my students, by keeping the lines of communication open so they feel comfortable enough to talk to me about anything. As a good educator, I know it is also important for me to build strong relationships with the families of children in my care because I am a parent myself. I believe that the setting/ environment has a great influence on the growth and development of the children.
Therefore, in order for me to help with the negative influences of media, I would make sure that the classroom environment is warm, inviting, supportive and approachable for my students. I believe by creating a learning environment that makes children feel safe will help challenge their minds every day, and inspire their creativity. In my classroom, I would monitor and limit the children’s exposure to the media. I can also incorporate the benefits and risks that the media has on children in my lesson plans.

I would show a genuine concern for each and every child that is in my presence.
