Many children around the globe suffer from being abused as a child. At the time of the abuse, the child has no idea as to what the rest of their life is going to look like after the abuse is finally over. Then again, no one does. No one thinks about all the different effects that happen to the child after the abuse had stopped. There are many different forms of abuse as well as many different ways the abuse affects the child. What most people don’t think about is the developmental, behavioral, and emotionally affects abuse has on children. When a child is being physically abused at a young age, that can lead their brain to not function well and can even cause death. When a child is being abused, it affects the way their brain develops. A child does not need to be struck to the head to cause the brain to not function fully. Studies indicate that physically abused children show higher levels of aggression than other maltreated children. One study comparing preschool children, were classified as physically harmed as to those who were unharmed found that children with a history of physical harm were rated six months later as more aggressive by teachers and peers. Children who experienced severe violence were reported to have higher rates of conduct problems and rule violating behaviors up against children who did not experience severe violence. Children also will have aggressive outbreaks towards parents as well as teachers, their behavior does not just focus on how they react with other children but adults too.
