Development in the Middle Years Middle years’ students are young students towards the end of their primary school. These students range from ten to fifteen years old. These kids are just about to enter puberty and some have however begun to approach adolescence. They have different needs from those who have already hit adolescence. Puberty is a very peculiar age because a lot happens to the students and they become more aware of who they are and many changes affect them. Growth starts immediately after birth until the age of 20. Most newborns are an average weight of 3.5kgs. Human beings also change in stature. This means that when the children are young, their heads are relatively bigger than the body. After years, these proportions change. In terms of speed of growth, it is very fast after birth, but changes as the child grows. Wright also takes the same fashion from being repaid in the early years and then slowing down later. A child increases in height as he/ she grows older (Sposet, 2003). One of the most important characteristics of physical development is weight. A child should increase weight as he grows. Children have different weights depending on diet and genes. There is an optimum level of weight that a child should be. A teen should not be underweight or overweight. While some parents believe that if a child is heavier, it means that they are healthier, doctors warn parents to make sure that the child is not overweight.
