As a steward of education, I am excited to write this letter expressing my sincere interest in the University of West Florida’s Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Curriculum Studies. I have had the pleasure of speaking with past graduates, and current employees of the program and have been thoroughly impressed with the opportunities offered within this program of study. At the University of Arkansas, I studied Kinesiology earning a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education K-12. I also worked as a Student Assistant in Operations for a Division One Athletic program. A need exists for professionals in Physical Education to focus on curriculum development research to broaden the cross-curricular higher level thinking to focus on problem-solving skills while performing physical tasks. This reinforces what is learned in the General Education classroom through a fun environment, and relating knowledge learned to everyday tasks. This creates a culture of creativity and produce innovation in the classroom. Technology is also an untapped resource in the Physical Education curriculum that could be implemented successfully. I appreciate the emphasis on applied research of regional and local issues and the practical application of skills. Also, the flexibility of the program will allow me to continue teaching while pursuing my degree, as well as allowing for opportunities to network with other like-minded professionals. These aspects of the program, as well as the pursuit of excellence in Education would be invaluable resources as I strive to become a better advocate for the next generation of students building a stronger society through
