A Physical Therapist Assistant works everywhere such as offices, hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, homes, schools, and fitness centers. The Job outlook from 2014-2024 will grow 40% over the years. The projection is faster than the average than any other job. A PTA makes about $45,290 per year and $21.77 per hour but wages change due to degree, year of experience, location, and time. We are living in a generation where humans live longer and the demand of PTA is high.

Therapy South is a full-service physical therapy clinic that is located in Athens, Georgia. This medical facility has physical therapy clinics in 25 locations. Therapy South was founded by Steve Foster, PT in July 2006. Their services include manual therapy, orthopedic physical therapy, cervicogenic/tension headaches, hand/occupational therapy, sports medicine, after surgery, trigger point dry needling, workers ' compensation/industrial rehab, etc. Their other services include fitness/wellness, geriatrics, foot orthotics, decompression traction, Anodyne therapy systems, aquatic therapy, pediatrics, women 's health, chronic pain, neurological, and lymphedema.
Initially, I was interested in physiotherapy, however, after completing work experience there I realised I wanted to help people in more meaningful ways rather than simply making a sore shoulder feel better. I am writing to apply for the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program, as a freshman majoring Associate of Science at Cerritos College. After I read the program description, I am very interested in this program. I have reviewed from the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) through the website, and very passionate in this major. PTA program is one of top future job in ten years the. I strongly believe that I will be the best candidate for this position.
I have known for years that I wanted to work in the realm of health science. I knew that I wanted to do something in sports medicine. When I took a deeper look into sports medicine I learned that there are many areas of sports medicine that you can get licensed in and that the sports medicine part would be a specialty to attach to it. So I took the list as started to look through it at each job that plays an affect in the sport medicine area. I narrowed in on Physical Therapy and then took the time to do some shadowing in it for my senior study.
The median salary of a physical therapist is about $85,000 a year. The amount of years in the workforce and how high the degree is, then the salary can vary. There is a list of classes that must be taken to become a physical therapist: anatomy, physiology, biology, chemistry, statistics, and psychology. In order to get admission to a physical therapy education program then those classes are required to be taken.
Physical Therapy Assistant is an interesting field; it is a job that helps individuals in need. I interviewed Lucero because she is currently working in the same field that I see myself working in the future. The interview took place on November 29th; it lasted an hour and a half. The interview was about me trying to understand more about my future life as a physical therapist assistant. The purpose of this interview was for me to envision if this is the profession that I want for myself, in the future.
Going into it, Maggie knew that the job wasn’t going to be easy and there were going to be times where she struggled since it was hard work, but she didn’t know it was going to burden her this much. Everyday she sees a handful of patients, but no longer puts in much effort to help them. Veterans have wounds that would take a lot of time and attention to heal, and she no longer has the drive to alleviate their pain. Being a mental health therapist was what she had always wanted to do even when she was a young girl. Her mother worked as a social worker, and it inspired her to want to help people, but that inspiration is long gone.

As a professional, one must adhere to the guiding principles defined by the professional association. Scope of Practice outlines the “notions of professional conduct, accountability and self- governance and expanded practice”. Scope of Practice summarizes “the range of roles and activities an individual registrant or licensee is permitted to undertake in the course of professional practice. These roles and activities are largely determined by professional education and practice competence along with factors in the practice context, such as demands on practitioners’ services and available resources” (Fealy 2005). Scope of Practice is based upon the “profession 's unique body of knowledge, supported by educational preparation, a body of evidence, and existing or emerging practice frameworks” (American Physical Therapy Association, 2015).
Physical Therapy Physical Therapists provide rehabilitation for injuries and help maintain stability. “Some history of Physical Therapist formed their first professional association in 1921 called the American Women’s physical therapeutic association. In the late 1940s, the association had changed its name to the American Physical Therapy Association. Physical Therapy was developed when the association’s membership swelled to 8,000 and the number of physical therapy education programs across the US increased from 16 to 39”(“APTA History”). Although many people may think being a physical therapist is hard because of the qualifications needed, the daily work, salary, and needs of the service have drawn my attention to the field.

Physical therapists are doctors that help people who have pain during movement or have lost some range of motion. They help those patients regain their abilities or manage their pain (Bellamy). This is a great career to go into. There are many aspects that go into being a physical therapist like degrees, advancement opportunities, day to day responsibilities, and much more.
The key to being a successful leader is to remain objective and easy going. Mr. Sene began his career as a physical therapist in 1999. He served as the Rehabilitation Supervisor for Lutheran Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY, from 2006 to 2009. Mr. Sene’s recent experiences include Co-Owner/Manager of a small-scale physical therapy office, in addition, a supervisory physical therapist at RWJBarnabas Health. Mr. Sene’s responsibilities for both facilities include; day to day operations, scheduling, budgeting, and updating his staff on changes in policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
