A Physical Therapist Assistant works everywhere such as offices, hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, homes, schools, and fitness centers. The Job outlook from 2014-2024 will grow 40% over the years. The projection is faster than the average than any other job. A PTA makes about $45,290 per year and $21.77 per hour but wages change due to degree, year of experience, location, and time. We are living in a generation where humans live longer and the demand of PTA is high.
I am writing to apply for the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program, as a freshman majoring Associate of Science at Cerritos College. After I read the program description, I am very interested in this program. I have reviewed from the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) through the website, and very passionate in this major. PTA program is one of top future job in ten years the. I strongly believe that I will be the best candidate for this position.
I have known for years that I wanted to work in the realm of health science. I knew that I wanted to do something in sports medicine. When I took a deeper look into sports medicine I learned that there are many areas of sports medicine that you can get licensed in and that the sports medicine part would be a specialty to attach to it. So I took the list as started to look through it at each job that plays an affect in the sport medicine area. I narrowed in on Physical Therapy and then took the time to do some shadowing in it for my senior study.
Broken bones or raging fevers,The two jobs that I chose to further gain knowledge of is a physician assistant and a physical therapist. As I was doing my research I wanted to see the extent of requirements that each occupation requires while seeing overall which job sounds more appealing to me. As of right now I am leading towards the physician assistant job as I have always been interested more of the prescription medicine side of things. In the future I have to decide whether or not I want to more personally in to the range of motions of people who have been injured, or look in to a more personal connection with the medicine side of things.

The job offers great pay, benefits, job opportunities, and can move up to physical therapist. I’m already working for the Miami Heat and one day I will like to work for the basketball team. I love basketball, so working for the basketball team will be a great fit for me and a life time goal.

Most individuals have a defining moment in their lives, where they know where their life is headed. Pursuing a degree, as a physician assistant for me did not happen in a single moment but a collection of moments. My mother’s battle with heart disease, a father collapsing on the ground unresponsive, watching first hand the initial incision of an ACL reconstruction to the head of an academic program suggesting a masters in physician assistant. An accumulation of these moments has driven me to unite my interests to accomplish and contribute more to healthcare. Throughout my physical therapy assistant program, I excelled but not due to pure intelligence.

In this career choice, the way I got to help patients was through therapy. While taking classes, I realized Occupational Therapy is not what I truly was passionate about. Scope of Practice outlines the “notions of professional conduct, accountability and self- governance and expanded practice”. Scope of Practice summarizes “the range of roles and activities an individual registrant or licensee is permitted to undertake in the course of professional practice. These roles and activities are largely determined by professional education and practice competence along with factors in the practice context, such as demands on practitioners’ services and available resources” (Fealy 2005). By 2026 physical therapy jobs are said to be increased by 25% (“10 Interesting Physical Therapy Facts & Statistics,” 28 Dec. 2017). Physical therapists are doctors that help people who have pain during movement or have lost some range of motion. They help those patients regain their abilities or manage their pain (Bellamy). This is a great career to go into. There are many aspects that go into being a physical therapist like degrees, advancement opportunities, day to day responsibilities, and much more.
