For my Capstone Project, I chose the career as physician assistant. I worked hard throughout the year to make sure I make a good grade on the Capstone Project. I job shadowed at D.D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center in the pain management unit. I spent most of the time observing my mentor while she performed check-ups on her patients. Also, I saw my mentor give injections to patients to help with pain.
Andi Wallick Personal Statement Indiana University School of Medicine Degree Objective: M.S. Pathologists’ Assistant My interest in pathology dates back to high school. I enjoyed most sciences but especially sciences about the body. I knew then that I wanted to work in the field of pathology.
I believe I should be accepted into to the University of North Dakota School Of Medicine because of my commitment to practicing primary rural care in the Midwest, my experience working with the underserved populations of my community, and my desire to advance medicine through research. Growing up in a small rural community, I was fortunate to have the same primary care physician. However, recently our town has experienced difficulty in hiring and retaining physicians. My enjoyment of my rural community inspires me to someday become a physician in this type of community. My commitment to serving the underserved population of my community is demonstrated through volunteering for 5 years at a clinic for the uninsured.
I’m currently a student at San Joaquin Valley College, working towards becoming a certified medical assistant in which I have proficiency in typing skills and accomplished CPR and HIPAA certification. My passion is the medical field where I can assist the needs and services of others while being able to connect and create a comfortable environment for patients. On an interpersonal level, I excel as a conversationalist to personalize each interaction I encounter. With previous volunteer work for organizations, I’ve come to realize I strive in wanting to make a positive difference in people’s lives and hope to one day be able to do it on a daily basis. I am a 27-year-old mother and fiancé. My goal is to complete my science prerequisite classes with 4.0’s so that I can apply to the Physician Assistant program at Western Michigan University. I graduated in 2015 with a Bachelors in Criminal Justice from WMU and I am currently working as a Medical Assistant. I have a son named Lorenzo, his first birthday is a couple hours away! In my very limited free time I like to work out through a program called Fit Body Boot Camp.

This medical profession of physician assistant was created in the USA in the 1960s, but it has since spread outside of the US. She earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Pre-Allied Health in four years at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma and achieved a 4.0-grade point average. Abby has over one hundred hours of shadowing doctors in various specialties.
In the book “The Power of Myth” by Joseph Campbell, there is much discussion on new mythology and a “demythologized” world. The idea that our culture needs a “new mythology” because we live in a “demythologized” world is inaccurate regarding our modern culture. We still have myths and rituals that we follow in our daily lives. There are many people that still respect the Earth the way the indigenous people did in the past, which shows there is a mythology that we follow today. We also still have rituals such as marriage, giving gifts to people that are experiencing a significant life event, standing for a judge, etc.
I want to be a physician because I want people to grow old. At the age of 6, one of my closest friends was diagnosed with leukemia. By age 8, the disease claimed his life, robbing him of the opportunity to experience the privilege of growing old. Unfortunately, we live in a society of vanity. We see the process of aging and choose not to embrace it.
A histologist works with tissue samples, either from humans, plants, or animals. They prepare the slides of tissue under a microscope for examination. Histologists work closely with pathologists to identify any signs of disease in the tissue sample. They have a very important job during blood transfusion. Their job is to verify that the donor blood matched the patient’s blood type.
I not only strive to apply scientific findings to treat my future patients, but also hope to gain inspiration from my patients to advance scientific knowledge. Everyone has experienced a situation involving, medicine and prescriptions, whether it is grazing your knee from falling off a bike or visiting relatives in hospital. Biomedics has undoubtedly been a large part of my life and my desire for science originated from a young age while observing my mother working as a nurse on a day-to-day basis. This gave me a basic knowledge of different diseases and conditions, and enabled me to develop compassion and consideration towards people. My grandmother also suffered from coronary heart disease, which subsequently sparked my interest for medicine and potential cures for illnesses. I read an article about how “injections cut heart attack risk”.
Pediatricians are like unicorns in some communities-- legendary beings highly prized and sought after. If a woman finds one that is worthwhile, she may go to great lengths to preserve and protect the relationship. She may fear letting the wrong people know the doctor's name or office address. What if they screw it up for her somehow? Like what if she gives a friend the doc's number, and then the doctor hates them.
PERSONAL STATEMENT (NURFATIN BT MOHD SHAH) I want to further my study in this course because it is thrilling and rapidly- moving subject area, that is highly pertinent to the problem facing by society today. As far as I concern, cardiovascular disease is one of the popular cause of death. I am keen to learn more and involve in the latest advances in cardiovascular research. Over the years of studying, my interest in this area has increased.
One of my future goals and the most important one is to become a doctor. It is my life dream, and the only thing I am seeking for. Doctor is someone capable to save and help others life in ways that are not possible in other careers. Being a doctor for me is not just like any job, it is achieving a dream I have since I was 6 years old. One of the main reasons I picked this major is my family; my family members are almost all doctors, and my dad too.
