Football is an American sport where a lot of people view it as a natural talent. Every year before the football season begins they have rookie camp that shows how good of a player the athlete is. Since everybody believes they can’t make it to the NFL they give up. They don’t know that football has physics everywhere in it. You have to use physics to adjust all the factors like “distance, wind and the weight of the ball, the distance between the thrower and target, and [how the ball needs to be thrown].” (Freudenrich, 2001) Also calculating how the defenders tackle the person with the football. There are many types of physics involved in football. Even Newton’s first, second and third laws of Motion. There are other things that can be figured out like Pythagorean theorem. …show more content…
In video “Geometric Shapes: Spheres, Ellipses & Prelate Spheroids” it talks about how the football does not work the same as other sport balls. (Freudenrich, 2001) The football is made from the shape called an Ellipse. These four Ellipses make a football into a ball that can be thrown and cut through the air. On the video the football glides through the air and when “thrown into a spiral the ball can successfully and accurately hit its target.” When the ball is thrown and is going lob sided the ball has a “more surface area and slows down the ball.” All these things matter in a football situation because it can lead to a touchdown or an incomplete pass or even worse an
