In a small cabin in the woods, a family of four shuddered as the cold winter air filled the room. The snow on the window sills trembled as the father walked around quickly and shut all the windows. Emily whined, but then her mother shushed her and her brother.
“But ma, it’s so cold! Why can’t we use the fire?” Emily started to whine again.
“Because we have limited gas and wood, and fire takes up gas and wood,” her mother said sternly.
“Hon, we could just use the natural resources to help with the fire. I could go out there and collect wood and flint,” the father suggested.

“What is a pinky?” Mike piped up.
“You don’t know what a Pinky is! A Pinky is my pet dragon, and she turning 20 soon! She’s much older than me, and she’s gonna lay an egg!”
“An egg! What kind of egg?!” Emily was surprised by the announcement of an egg. She only knew of eggs laid by birds and alligators.
“A dragon egg, of course!” A large pink animal the size of a baby elephant and its belly bulging emerged from behind Finn, and it resembled a seahorse. It waved one of its flowing fins and made a light, girlish grunt. Mike and Emily were now even more confused about why Pinky was called that. When Finn noticed the large animal, he spun around and stroked her fur, which was surprisingly fur, not scales! She snapped away. Finn was scared, and she ran to the corner, where a pile of hay was arranged into a nest. Then, a golden light came from the corner, and when it faded, a golden egg studded with gems and lots of swirls of color was sitting in the nest. It was larger than Pinky, and Finn, too!
