Upon their arrival to the North American continent, the Jamestown settlers had to deal with the numerous problems of a newly settled and distant colony, and Powhatan influences, as well as the discovery of the events that would improve their developing society. Although England learned of America’s existence years before their Jamestown settlement was established, there did not exist any accurate map of the Virginian geography until after the settlement had already been established. As a consequence of this, many settlements started on the American coastline and developed from there, yet these settlements would still struggle to exist while the colonists became familiar with their new found surroundings. Being unfamiliar with the environment, the first settlers had a difficult time navigating, expanding the settlement, and farming sufficient crops.

If I were to be one of these wagon train emigrants travelling through, I would have been becoming more and more frustrated and maybe even have said what some of the men said to the Mormons, with even if what the emigrants said were true, they didn’t deserve to die for. The rising tensions between the emigrants and the Mormons continued to grow, which as I know set the tone and helped lead up to the
President K. Polk being a fair and a smart man had many successes including the promotion of the Manifest Destiny’s policies. One of which including the negotiation possession of the Oregon Territory from the British. Also was able to buy what is now California and New Mexico, gaining all this land after the Mexican-American war. Although he had many other successes, he also had his flaws one of which was when he was running for reelection in 1841. It was not a good time for a Democrat, due to the country being in depression and the bank with many failures.
Even 200 years people had food to eat and carry with them on long trips. Each of the two did travel alone on one or more expeditions. When you are exploring you have to have simple shelters to stay in. If you had to tie something you had to use simple knots so you could untie them in the morning when your hands are cold. John Colter and Tom Murphy both had to wear warm
Following their relocation, Native Americans had to adjust to a warmer climate and less fertile land to grow their crops on. The crops were the main source of the food for these Native Americans and they struggled for many years after with hunger problems. As for their religion, they felt torn apart from it because they were not on their sacred land. After the Americans got to their new territory, the Americans left. They didn’t give the Native Americans any provisions to help them.

People were drawn to the West because it was scene as the last resort to make a living when all else failed in the East. Communication with friends and family who had moved west led these pioneers to believe the journey would be easy and the reward for getting west would be best. And the greatly available land was the strongest pulling factor to people interested in adventuring west. By thinking of his family, Salva is able to keep walking even though he’s tired, thirsty, hungry, and his feet hurt. The second example of Perseverance is when Salva is in the refugee camp.
