Three out of every ten women in the United States have an abortion by the time they are forty-five years old. (Abortion Information | What Are Your Options ) What happens to theses aborted fetuses? Some women’s health organizations sell tissues from aborted fetuses for profit, which is not ethical. Moms are tricked into giving consent to sell the fetus’ parts, some major companies use the fetuses in ways that are somewhat cannibalistic, and selling the fetus’ parts is illegal. First, Planned Parenthood tricks the moms that have abortion into giving them consent to sell parts the fetus’ parts. Planned Parenthood uses people through the small company of Novogenix to convince women to donate the fetuses for research. They do this by telling the moms that the tissue can help farther stem cell research. They use HEK-293 which is human embryotic kidneys. They can get away with it by labeling them as artificial flavors and sometimes they can label them as natural flavors. These companies include, but are not limited to Pepsi, Nestle, Kraft, Cadbury Adams Candies, and Neocutis “beauty” products. They are also used in vaccines that include, but are not limited Chickenpox, Polio, Shingles, and Rabies.
It is illegal to sell parts of fetus. It is against 42 U.S. 289g-2. This law states that it is unlawful for anybody to acquire, receive, or transfer any human fetal tissue for valuable consideration. Valuable consideration is a legal term which means “a necessary element of a contract to benefit another party. It can include money, work, performance, assets, a promise, or abstaining from an act.” While donations are acceptable, payment for the fetus tissue is illegal.
