Alexis McGill Johnson is a passionate and dedicated woman with many talents. She is an American academic and social justice advocate. By fighting for equity and inclusion, she is showing how strong and dedicated she truly is. Johnson makes herself known and her voice heard by also being the president and CEO of Planned Parenthood. Planned Parenthood is a non-profit organization that provides sexual and reproductive health and sex education globally. She is a prominent voice in the reproductive rights movement and has been instrumental in shaping public policy and societal norms. 1972 was when Johnson was born and she was raised by both her mother and father. Her parents played a large role in her life and her childhood was largely influenced by her parent’s pride in black culture. As a graduate from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in political science, Johnson had a promising and successful future to look forward to. On June 26, 2020, Alexis Mcgill Johnson was made president and CEO of Planned Parenthood. She left no time to waste and began working towards the missions and goals of Planned Parenthood right away. In an interview with Liz Elting, Johnson explained “As President of Planned of Planned Parenthood Action Fund, I can tell you that there are things that need to happen today to support patients, in November to protect access, and frankly, years down the line to ensure the equality has a place in our constitution”(Elting 2022). Johnson realizes there are many problems in the world that need to be challenged and faced right away. She encourages people to take action by inserting her knowledge and talking in a kind voice to attract the audience listening. In this interview, she continues to use the word “you” to give the feeling of the power of being able to help everyone listening.
