In America and The Pill: A History of Promise, Peril, and Liberation, Elaine May Tyler examined the history of birth control in the United States. I enjoyed her quote on this issue I strongly believe that women should have the control over what they do with their bodies. I would fully support a person who believes that women’s issues are still not handled in 2017. Having to drive hundreds of miles in order to get proper care is not acceptable and I am glad to read that Debbie Dingell agrees with that issue.
In November 2015, Robert Dear executed an attack on an abortion clinic, Planned Parenthood, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After a six hour standoff, this attack ended with the death of one police officer and two civilians and injuries to five police officers and four civilians. Robert Dear, 59, was motivated by his Christian faith and believes that his actions were just. Dear’s whole life was painted with crime, violence, and radical demonstrations of his religion. Even a New York Times article made him out as “an angry and occasionally violent, deeply disturbed, and extremely religious man with a long history with law enforcement.”

I am a social work student at Frostburg State University and I have completed a policy analysis on the defunding of Planned Parenthood. I oppose defunding of Planned Parent because I believe it serves a good purpose in communities. Defunding of Planned Parenthood would remove all federal funding and allow states to take away state funding from them. Without the 500 million dollar yearly funding that Planned Parenthood receives they will have to shut down a numerous amount of their clinics and many of the nine million clients will not have anywhere to go to for preventive and family planning services. In 2012, Texas stopped funding Planned Parenthood with state aid.
Planned Parent Hood Funding Planned Parent Hood is funded by multiple different ways, by donations, money that they profit off from there services and federal tax dollars. There has always been an argument between are politicians rather there should be a cut in government funding towards Planned Parenthood and many Americans would argue the fact that rather their tax payer money should or shouldn’t fund Planned Parent, personally I think it should be founded by federal tax dollars. The protests could eventually lead to a decrease in funding for Planned Parenthood. The riots do not only affect the business, they also affect the patients. On June 28, 2014, a six-hour, non-violent protest broke out in front of the Boston Planned Parenthood.
