Intro For years now, football has been one of the most popular sports in the world and is still continuing to grow everyday. It has become an integral part of American culture, with millions of people actively purchasing tickets, watching games, and supporting their favorite teams. Football is a game that requires a lot of physical skill, mental toughness, and teamwork. Whether a player is playing professional or playing in a small local league, football can be both a challenging and rewarding experience. The impact of football rules on player safety has been explored in a study from the Journal Safety Tips: Football “Doctors and scientists are studying how repeatedly hitting the head during tackling affects the brain” (Anzilotti). The researchers conducted a systematic review of the literature, specifically looking at the effects of rule changes on player safety. The results showed that rule changes had a positive effect on player safety, such as reducing the incidence of injuries, reducing the severity of injuries, and reducing the risk of head injuries. The authors concluded that rule changes, when implemented correctly, can significantly reduce the risk of injury to football players. In order to ensure optimal safety, the authors emphasize the importance of following the current rules and regulations set by the governing bodies of football. In the article American Football Basic Rules by Wood, Robert, it says, “They have four chances (or downs) to gain those 10 yards. Each time the ball is advanced at least 10 yards within their four chances, another first down is earned, with four more chances to go a further 10 yards” Additionally, they suggest that football organizations should continuously assess and evaluate their rules and regulations to ensure that they are up to date and effective in reducing injury risk. Every Sunday, Thursday, and Monday, over millions of people tune in to watch their favorite team play. Not to mention the thousands of people that are actually in person watching the game. Many people would believe football is the best and biggest sport. Although it is an extremely big and well rounded sport, things like income, injuries, etc. vary based on the player.
