In the podcast “Reading” Melvyn Bragg along with guest speakers Professor Kevin Sharpe and Professor Jacqueline Pearson discussed the history of reading. One thing they talked about was the power of reading. I found it interesting that reading is associated with power because I already have an idea of how it’s related. When reading, the reader gains knowledge of what they read because everything is processed in their mind. Due to knowledge, one individual can control a group of ignorant people. For example, the government can leave the people ignorant, thus the government has full control. It’s interesting that knowledge can give a person the power to do something incredible, but the people who can’t afford an education work harder than most
