" Edgar Allan Poe and his ideas of writing are important to him because they fit his way of making a good story, poem, or whatever the case may be. Poe prefers writings to be short and straight to the point, he thinks that once you start a writing you must already know your ending. Being able to leave an impression while writing for the reader is another idea Poe prefers in his writings. These ideas are very important to writing whether it’s a poem or a series of books. However, these ideas can also be unnecessary to the experience of my time in school with my ideas for writing. The idea of making a literary work short and straight to the point or “the affairs to the world interfere” (Poe, Philosophy of Composition) is not an idea worth using. Yes many people do prefer short and straightforward because they do not appreciate the art of a literature. However, the very few that do in my experience would not like to read something so short or straightforward. We like to read till the end of days a series of books can pull us right into another world. By being in school and making essays for so long, has helped to give an understanding of not having to worry about an ending until you are almost at the end. Starting a writing whether it is your own fictional story or a future famous poem, knowing the end while beginning takes away the fun. Being able to write and continue on writing without having to worry that you choose your favorite character to eventually have a tragic death (and cry at the thought of it) is fun. Already knowing that the character dies will make me want to change the story and make it too happy. Being aware of the end while beginning to write is something unworthy of
