Poem Analysis: Hip Shooter

Hip Shooter -
When I first read this poem the meaning is a little obscure, but each line brings out images. I think the poem is about 2 people traveling on a journey, and they await death. From the line “Our small crosses will stand, On the bright edge of the road together”, it makes me think that these people know they won’t reach the end of the road. They know people just die in the middle of life, with no lead up and no final destination, just a end, and time will keep moving without them, whether or not they get to the end of the path.

Memorex -
When I read this poems, it actually does not bring up a lot of memories.. But the fact that two crosses layed next to each other, with their owners laying underneath, hand in hand, made me think of lovers dieing together, and lying in rest together, in a graveyard. It brings sadness as well as happiness when I see husband and wife lying together in death. My grandparents tributes on my father's side were set together. When my grandpa dies, my family planted a tree for him in a park, and put a bench next to it for his memory. Five years later, when my grandma dies, they planted another tree for her next to the bench. On both …show more content…

The night could be the death, the rest the people wait for, one they want at the end of a journey. The face of the cool moon could be the face of death, they one they see when the time comes, the one that welcomes them to their rest. They will rest, maybe in their home countryside, maybe in just an illusion of it. Together in death, they will continue to be together, and will rest together always connected, always hand in hand. They will lay on the side of the road, peaceful, lying in the night, but feeling bright. Time will continue to pass without them, whether they are living or not.
