Polaris: Malcolm Baldrige Award In 1987 U.S. Congress created The Malcolm Baldrige Award it was created to improve the quality management of U.S. companies. The criteria for the award is commonly accepted, they are often used as standards for quality in the U.S. Every year the award is given to three companies in seven different categories: leadership, strategy, customers, measurement analysis, workforce, operations, and results.
