Police brutality has been occurring since the idea of a police officer was first brought up. Officers have found many holes through the law enforcement system. This brings upon many types of misconduct and excessive force. Why do US police keep killing unarmed black men? US police is under a serious controversy after the recent killings of Afro-American men; one in Tursa and another in Charlotte. Police is trying their best to defend their action of shooting the two men down and in this scenario, they have failed to cover the unjustifiable fatal killing of Terrance Crutcher in Tursa as the video of the killing has been aired on news channels which mirrors the reality of an innocent unarmed black man who despite of following the commands of the police, was shot to death. This is inexcusable and a true case of excessive force.

Many police officers get off easily because they call it as self-defense, but it’s not. People being brutally beaten or killed, riots breaking out, mourning of neighborhoods, lawsuits against police departments all can be at stake of police officers using excessive force. This is part of the reason our country has been in an uproar. In the last few years’ police brutality has been at an all-time high. Because of it, movements have been started and protests have broken out.
In this world today, there are many cases of police brutality going on right now. For some cases, police shouldn’t have acted the way that they did. There are multiple reasons for why police brutality occur and must be removed for it to occur less. Police brutality happens to all races, but the main race is African American people.
Humans are programmed to create communities, and communities create institutions. Unfortunately, our American institutions are failing to adapt to the ever-changing world. The ‘community” of America continues to change every minute of every day and American institutions, not only remain the same, but are falling behind. Many institutions in America have failed, but are utilized still.
In recent news reports, numerous cases of police brutality resulting in the death of unarmed citizens frequently occur. The cases describe similar incidents in which authorities racially profile citizens and proceeds to approach the citizen in an unlawful manner. An altercation escalates between the two when the citizen attempts to resist the police’s unlawful arrest. Police use excessive force against the citizen to make the citizen abide by their commands. Use of excessive force leads to the death of the citizen.
They can’t just shot before they know what’s happening and say it was self defense or the victim was running away, no excuses. Whether someone did a huge crime, their lives should not be taken away so quickly; there are always second chances. This whole problem is mostly because of the diversity in Chicago. All the races stay in their own group of people: mexicans with mexicans, blacks with blacks, asians with asians, etc. It is very rare to find someone hanging out with someone who doesn 't look like them.
There is enough evidence to show that police officers are using an excess of force, and in some occasions lethal force in their daily routine. It is normal for people to get scared when they are in the presence of a police officer. It is not a casualty, it is because the history that is around police officers and the fame that they had created. Recent incidents involving police officers shooting innocent people are raising doubts about how police officers are trained, and the credibility in the Unites States System of Justice. This report is showing light to the communities’ response to police brutality particularly in the black communities and also their encounters with police officers. Police brutality is physical violence and great cruelty demonstrated by a police officer. Police brutality and misconduct have existed for many decades and it even has been broadcasted in news stories over America, but nothing has changed. It has happened predominantly to African Americans in lower-income states. Police officers are given slaps on the wrist for taking a life or injuring an innocent person.
Police brutality remains a common yet controversial topic around the world. Police brutality is “the use of excessive and/or unnecessary force by police when dealing with civilians” (thelawdictionary.org). It’s a topic that segregates communities and makes each other their enemy. Specifically, a white officer has been the enemy of the black community. Unfortunately, the tension between police and blacks grew over the past few decades.
Police Brutality is an ongoing problem and existent concern in the United States and should be resolved immediately. Law enforcement must function as an element that consists of organized and civilized officers. The presence of police brutality is becoming more of an issue as society grows. The problem posed by the illegal exercise of police power is an ongoing reality for individuals of a disfavored race, class, or sexual orientation. Police brutality must be stopped so that police do not forget who they are serving – not themselves, but the public.
