Police brutality has been occurring since the idea of a police officer was first brought up. Officers have found many holes through the law enforcement system. This brings upon many types of misconduct and excessive force. Unfortunately, police officers are not usually held accountable for their brutality. “The Incentive Program, or the method of police chiefs using promises of contraband going to sub-departments that lack the money in the budget, gives officers more incentive to not only plant evidence to make an entire estate contraband, but it also lets them rationalize lining their own pockets” (White).
Policing has seen much progress. Some reforms do work, and some types of abuse have been reduced. Today, among both police officials and rank and file officers, it is widely recognized that police brutality hinders good law enforcement. Whenever a new case of police brutality comes to light, people in the community must respond politically to ensure justice for the victim. These actions must be timely to be truly effective.

Synthesis Research Paper Everyday growing up as a young black male we have a target on our back. Society was set out for black males not to succeed in life. I would always hear my dad talk about how police in his younger days would roam around the town looking for people to arrest or get into an altercation with. As a young boy growing up I couldn’t believe some of the things he said was happening. However as I got older I would frequently hear about someone getting killed by the police force.
A major part of my paper is the response to police brutality by the American republic. Often, when discussing police brutality there is certain language used that tends to devalue experiences of the victim. In 1992, during the second day of rioting in L.A after the Rodney King trial president George H.W Bush addressed the nation to address the trial and the riots. This could provide a look into coded language that was used to discuss these topics. Coded language is a term that refers to words that may have other meanings when used in a certain context.
According to The Washington Post, out of 356 police brutality cases in The United States, 365 were men and 80 were woman. Of those 356, 80 percent of them were carrying life threatening objects such as; knifes, guns, machetes, 49 of them were unarmed and carrying no weapons, and 16 percent were carrying a fake gun or unarmed. Police are allowed to use deadly force when they feel their life’s, or the lives of other innocent by standards are in danger, but according to this research most of the people were not carrying deadly weapons. Of those in the same brutality cases, 8 of them were under 18 years old, 55 were 18-24 years old, 118 were 25-34 years old, 94 were 35-44 years old, 62 were 45-54 years old and 39 of them were 55 years or older.
Because police brutality has increased to such extremes, misconduct has had many impacts on society and the law. Currently, there is great mistrust between citizens and police departments. Just as the King attacking caused riots in the L.A community, the recent brutality reports have caused major issues in cities nationwide. Some of these reports include the 1999, Amadou Diallo case when he came home from work and was shot at 41 times by the police and died. There was also the Eric Garner quandary in 2014 who was choked to death by police.
As the British settled in South Africa, they began to expand their territory further North. At first, they took over Boer claimed land, however, they were aimed at taking over land from the Xhosa people (Mads). Cradock, the governor of the territory in 1811, ordered lieutenant John Graham to expel the native Xhosa’s out of their land. Once done, crops were destroyed, cattle was stolen, and several Xhosa people were shot. A few months later, Benjamin D’Urban, the British General, led a successful attack against the Xhosa tribe.

Police brutality is physical violence and great cruelty demonstrated by a police officer. Law enforcement is ensuring an act of obedience to the law. Police officers often take advantage of enforcing the law and end up using violence when it 's not necessary. According to the Washington post ( 2015 ) every 28 hours an unarmed colored person is killed by a police officer. I think it is time for these and other victims who were treated unjustly by police officers to get justice. These deadly law enforcement incidents must come to an end.
Police Brutality is an ongoing problem and existent concern in the United States and should be resolved immediately. Law enforcement must function as an element that consists of organized and civilized officers. The presence of police brutality is becoming more of an issue as society grows. Brianna Marquez English III - 5th period May 22, 2018 Being bad & getting exposed Police brutality and the system being corrupt has always been an issue in America, but lately it’s been brought up more and more in the media. The system hasn 't always revealed the full truth about stories, but now with technology it has become a concern that the police are covering up things that we should know. Recently there have been more protests and riots about officers not doing their jobs and they are going out of there way to hurt victims.
[ Imagine this scenario: you are complying with the police that are screaming at you, guns pointed at you, screaming “please don 't shoot” and trying your best to do what the police are asking. Daniel Shaver was an unarmed man fatally shot for no good reason. He was complying with the police officers orders and was begging for his life, screaming “please don’t shoot,” before he was fatally shot 5 times. Unfortunately, this is just one example of police brutality, an instance when police use unnecessary force when either they are unarmed or are complying with orders. Today I want to tell you of the injustice of police brutality, the people it affects, and how just asking the right questions could make sure that police are punished for their crimes.
