Ever wonder why some police departments have low pay or less officers on duty. This is usually done by police defunding in the department. Police defunding is some or lots of the funding taking away from police. This will make police not have enough resources to help out other in need of help from crimes, not under control protest, and wrecks or other things that police officers respond to. Some say its better but, others do not about defunding the police. Defunding the police is not a good idea for the public and everyone, from the consequences that will happen if it happens.
Defunding the police will not grante safety or peace. Criminals will see the opportunity to do things they wanted to do more because the police won’t have much money to do things to stop them in time. In the article “Defunding police will not compromise public safety” it says “in 2018, for example, 4,135 people were charged with theft under $5,000, 3,345 were charged with shoplifting under $5,000, 996 were charged with fraud and 772 were charged with mischief”. Education is the main core importance of an efficient law enforcement. Defunding the funding would deprive both local departments and local neighborhoods the benefits of improving policing skills, updating methods, and addressing problems as they arise. In short, less funding means less money for adequate training and resources.
When defunding the police happens if would leave officers to might quit or get a second job. “Full-Time police officers in the departments will experience between a 2.2% and 16% loss of full-time police officers due to police defunding in the department”. Police officers will have less equipment, vehicles, and tools. Which leaves more weapons on the street, more criminals loose, and fewer officers on duty. Officers might even end up homeless and unable to provide for their family’s due to their pay
