Pestle analysis Political system Constitutional monarchy The Netherlands is a monarchy country since 1815, the first King is William I (1815-1840). The current King is Willem-Alexander from 2013. The monarch is an official member of the Netherlands’ government that a situation familiar with United Kingdom, but different to that in Sweden. In the Netherlands, the King has no political responsibility (ProDemos –House for Democracy and the Rule of Law, 2013). Political parties The first political parties were established around 130 years ago. It has three main group. Those are – the Social Democrats, the Christian Democrats and Liberals. The duty of these parties was to represent different sections of the Dutch population in the political arena. International membership The Netherlands is a member state of the European Union, so most Dutch political parties are represented in the European Parliament (ProDemos –House for Democracy and the Rule of Law, 2013). In addition, the Netherlands also is a founding member of many important international organizations. For example, the UN, NATO, WTO, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank (Horsmans, 2015). Political environment The VVD and PvdA (with majority in the new parliament) decided that the age of the state pension will rise. Currently, the age of the state pension is 65.
