Horses vs. Ponies There are many similarities between horses and ponies, but there are also many differences. Here are a few things that both ponies and horses share in common. Horses Types Stock type: Mainly used for ranch work. Stock horses usually are really muscular. Especialy in the shoulders, forearms, and hindquarters. Hunter type: Are usually used in sports. Such as, dressage, eventing, show jumping, competition driving, and fox hunting. Hunter types do not have a muscular build, but long somooth mucles. Saddle type: They are mostley used fo pleasure ridind and showing. They tend to be more refined with lighter bones and mucleing. Draft horses: Mainly used in parades, pulling contests, as carridge horses, and even sometimes used on farms. Draft horses tend to be very heavy set. Przewalski Przewalski 's horses are very endangered. In 2000 they were extinct in the wild. But later, they were succesfuly reintroduced. Some couses of them being very endangerd would be, hunting, harsh climate, loss of habitat (grasslands), and lack of water. They are herbivors, which is the main reason why they live in the grasslands. Their scientific name is Equus Caballus Przewalskii. There height is around 4 feet, and their weight is around 440-750lb.
