Many think Pony boy has a rough life. He even has his brothers with him at tough times. Just like the rumble how two bit 's, Darry and Pony boy fought the Socs. Then, the greasers win the rumble against the Socs. Therefore, Pony boy will be better with his brothers than foster care.
He is kind to his gang and helps people out and tries to learn but it isn't for him. Johnny also tries to emotionally help Pony when they were crying. He says to Pony, “stay gold, Ponyboy. stay gold…”pg. 148.
Ponyboy should stay with his family and friends. While there are many statements supporting sending him to a foster home there is also good reasoning for keeping him here with Darry and Soda. ¨The jury has reached a decision,¨ I stated, ¨they have decided to keep Ponyboy with Darry and Soda.¨ the reasons for which he was staying were simple. He was the brains of his gang because he “makes good grades and has a high IQ”(4), making him knowingly smarter than the rest. He was 14 but in grade 10 because he “got put up a year in grade school”(23). He always had the most common sense in the gang. He puts a lot of time and motivation into his schooling. Ponyboy did not sit around much.

Pony is always made to do his homework and get good grades. Sometimes when Darry and Soda go out, Pony is made to stay home and do school work. Since Darry makes him study, Pony gets all A´s and B´s. However, foster homes might not care about Pony´s education. Also, Darry encourages Pony not to fight and to ignore what the Socs say about the Greasers.
This is a good sign because it shows us that he is thinking deeply about his life. This symbolizes that he is finally letting go of his past and changing not mentally, but physically. In a time of need when Ponyboy attempts to save some
Johnny shows Ponyboy that the world isn’t corrupt with mean people and that it is still full of good. Johnny stated in the note Ponyboy found in the book Gone With The Wild that it is was worth saving the kids even if it meant his life. He also stated that the poem in the book meant “He meant you’re gold when you’re a kid,like green… and don’t get bugged over being a greaser. You still have a lot of time to make yourself be what you want. There’s still lots of good in the world” (Hinton 178-9).

In life, individuals strive to be successful; however, how does one measure their success over their lifetime. I know people believe success is measured by all of the accomplishments one has achieved in their lifetime. I believe obtaining a graduate degree would be a significant accomplishment in my personal and professional life.
