Thesis: In the book The Outsiders, Ponyboy Curtis tells the whole story, however, if the novel was told by several characters such as, Soda, Dally, or Johnny, the book would have been told in a much more desirable manner. Lastly, Johnny was with Ponyboy throughout various parts of the book, which would allow us to hear the complete adventure from a whole nother standpoint. The first example of this was seen when Pony and Johnny had just ran away to the local park.
In self defense and trying to stop the Socs from drowning Ponyboy, Johnny pulled out his switchblade and killed Bob. The boys quickly decided to get out of town in an effort to avoid the “fuzz.” The boys say they hid away in the abandoned church for about five days when their friend and member of their gang, Dally Winston, came to help them. As they decided to turn themselves in, and walked past the church which had been their hiding place, they saw it was set afire. Johnny, acting quickly, ran into the church with Ponyboy following.
Many think Pony boy has a rough life. He even has his brothers with him at tough times. Just like the rumble how two bit 's, Darry and Pony boy fought the Socs. Then, the greasers win the rumble against the Socs. Therefore, Pony boy will be better with his brothers than foster care.

On Tuesday November 12, 1963 Ponyboy Curtis and Johnny Cade go missing after the scene of Bob Sheldon’s murder. The two boys were seen running by the the park just before the incident, witnesses say that there had been a gang fight including Curtis, Cade, and Sheldon. Police believe Curtis and Cade are on the run because of the devastation last night. Police caution everyone in the area of Tulsa of Ponyboy Curtis and Johnny Cade as we are unaware if they are armed with weapons.
Pony sees the article about him in the paper, and realizes he needs to be present at court for his actions. This risks the chance of the three brothers being allowed to continue living together. Surprisingly, all they said about Dally was how he was a hero. Soda tells Pony that they are going to have a party after the rumble where the greasers get rid of the Socs for good, after this everyone leaves and Two-bit is left to babysit Pony. While out with Two-bit, Pony spots a few Socs, Randy (Marcia’s boyfriend) being one of them.
“I went on walking home, thinking about the movie, and then suddenly wishing I had some company. Greasers can’t walk alone much or they’ll get jumped” (S.E. Hinton 2). Thus resulting that Ponyboy is left unsupervised by Darry, when Darry could have have came and picked him up. For the most part Darry knows what could happen to Ponyboy but dosen’t bother to even go out and look for him. “Our front door is unlocked incase one of the boys is hacked off at his parents and needs a place to stay” (S.E. Hinton 105).
Tulsa - During these past few days, Ponyboy has been in contact with one of the bumpiest roads in his life that could ever happen. To be under hiding as wanted by police for the manslaughter of Robert “Bob” Sheldon. Regardless, in recent measures is now being praised as a child savior from a recent fire in Windrixville. Moreover, Ponyboy no longer under the custody of his parents due to a horrific car crash has been living with his older brothers Darry along with Sodapop Curtis. These trio of brothers have been living in desperation as Darry has a life of two different occupations.
””(90) Although Dally is cold hearted towards others, he cares about Johnny, who is different than the other greasers because, unlike them, is sensitive and quiet. Ponyboy says, “He was sensitive and that isn’t a good way to be when you’re a greaser.”(88) It is not good to be sensitive when you are a greaser because there are lots of hardships, and emotions can take a toll on people. After getting beat up by the socs, Johnny even more skittish and nervous then he was before.
If he wanted to, Johnny could just let them search for him. Instead, he wanted to hold responsibility and use courage to do what was right. Johnny is able to be seen as a very responsible and selfless person because he not only wanted to turn himself in so he wouldn’t suffer from the consequences of hiding anymore, but also so Ponyboy wouldn’t suffer, as seen with the quote “I’m sure. It ain’t fair for Ponyboy to have to stay up in that church worrying about me all the time” (Hinton 87). This shows
Introduction There were many characters in the outsiders that proved themselves to be heroes. A hero is someone who can make decisions in a tough situation that will help people. Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally are just a few of the characters in the book that have showed that they have the material to be a hero. Although some heroes do do a few things that are bad, they help people as often as they can. II.
Heroes are generally humble. They do not brag about their deeds. When they save others, they show bravery and courage. Some heroes have their flaws which are part of their bad qualities. This could be selfishness and bragging.
Would you let Ponyboy Curtis from The Outsiders go to foster care? If you read the book you would know he has a pleasant home with brothers who love him. Ponyboy should be able to live with his loving brothers. He is happy with his friends, family, and home. Many good things could happen to Pony in foster care, and he could be adopted.
Ponyboy lived with his two brothers Darry and Sodapop after his parents were killed in a car accident. Ponyboy had some friends in the gang: Steve, Two-Bit, Dally but his best friend was a boy named Johnny who was considered the gang`s mascot. Ponyboy was a boy who always wanted to be tough but an accident that happened in the story might make him change of mind on what he wanted to be. He also finds a way of how to finish the gang that was taking place from many tima.
