May the Best Music Win As long as I can remember, Pop and Country Music has been two of the most popular genres of music among my generation. The question is: Which is better? Don’t worry if you can’t answer that question immediately. After reading the next few pages, I’m sure your answer will be clear. According to Macmillan Dictionary, Pop Music is defined as “a type of music, usually played on electronic instruments, that is popular with many people because it consists of short songs with a strong beat and simple tunes that are easy to remember.” Meanwhile, Country Music is, using the same dictionary, defined as “a type of popular music based on music of the southern U.S. usually containing singing, guitars, and violins.” Now, this …show more content…

Pop singers, such as Katy Perry and Demi Lovato, usually give off a vibrant and/or energetic mood in their songs even if the subject matter of the song is about something less cheerful such as a breakup. Meanwhile, Country singers, such as Blake Shelton and Vince Gill, tend to give off more of a melancholy mood in their songs. The same goes for tone. For example, if you look at P!nk’s hit song “So What!”, it definitely gives off an aggressive yet powerful tone. On the other hand, Hunter Hayes’ hit track “Wanted” gives off more of a soft and loving tone. The lyrics can also play a part in the difference between the two genres as well.
