Pop art movement
The movement I have chosen to look at is Pop Art. Before I decided to delve deeper into this particular movement, I looked at other movements that occurred throughout the years, for example; Surrealism, The Renaissance etc. The reason for this choice of movement is that it stood out and drew me in the most out of any of the others making me want to know more. I looked further into the artists such as Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Richard Hamilton. As well as the style of artworks that were produced by these artists that made this movement as big as it is.

Warhol was born on the 6th of August 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As a child, Andy Warhol suffered Sydenham’s chorea. This is where the patient is said to have uncontrollable jerking movements which severely effected his face, feet and hands and caused him to stay at home for the duration of just under 2 months. .(Primaryfacts,2013). Andy Warhol was well known as a “Mummy’s Boy”. He was very close to his mother therefor she was a big inspiration behind many of his art works. His mother, Julia Warhola lived with her son till 1971, a year before her death. She shifted to New York in 1952 in order to live with Andy. Warhol at times also got his art and paintings signed from his mother. Unfortunately on 3 June, 1968, Andy Warhol and Mario Amaya (art critic) where victims of a murderous attack that took place at studio named “The Factory”. The murder attempt was carried out by Valerie Solanas, a writer in one of the movies of Andy Warhol. Valerie shot Andy Warhol he was then taken to the hospital in a critical state after the shooting incident. Because of the shooting attempt, he damaged several of his organs like lungs, liver and stomach. Doctors were able to revive him only after five long hours of
