Differences in the population structure between both countries are evident (Appendix 1). An ageing population is the trend in Denmark while Vietnam's population pyramid is typical of a developing county: a wide base and the biggest population concentration among the groups aged 10 to 30. Vietnam's growing population makes it an attractive market for overseas companies; most of the population is in its prime working and spending years. Whereas for Denmark the challenge is that of population stagnation, with a labour force of only 2.9 million people (U.S census bureau Population pyramids, 2014).

There is equally, a resistance to these changes due to the pressures in the social system, and also an acceptance due to the positive economic effects which can bring about. In fact, in Denmark 76% of people say globalization is a good thing (Fox, J., 2007) and in Vietnam it is accepted due to the economic growth and the benefits experienced due to world integration and a raise in people's quality of life.
Tax rates and protectionism has been strong in both countries due to different reasons (Australian Department of Trade, 2014). In Vietnam, in order to protect its industry, the foreign ownership limitation policy was introduced and in Denmark as a result of its strong social welfare system.
