P. White also turned something dull and boring into an interesting and capturing piece. I’m not sure if he made a cautious decision what color the background would be and what colors the guy would wear but I like to think that he did. The background and the guy felt so natural together and at peace. The shots were also so simple but so beautiful.
The artist combines iconography reminiscent his catholic upbringing and homosexuality throughout his work as his primary motif. The conflation of these symbols is particularly present within the photographic-performance piece
The painting shows off a torture chamber during the Roman Inquisition, which was responsible for prosecuting individuals accused of committing offenses relating to heresy. After taking care of education, the Roman Catholic Church needed to focus on how to spread the word of
This principle can be shown in the brick kiln figure, which achieves the nakedness of the idea. In the last five paragraphs he states his bare notion stating, “That world of misery, that lake of burning brimstone, is extended abroad under you” (106). This passage serves to illustrate his immediacy of physical detail, which preceded with gradual building metaphors. The bare experience would allow those in the pulpit to sense the eventual suffering, thus becoming a victim of Edward’s style of relied syntax to finally reach his overall point. The communication of his ideas enter the mind of the auditors through such bare sensory experiences, thwarting their “rebel” hearts (p.102).
Even the mechanicals only wear various shades of black, gray, and white. The lack of color in the other character’s clothing places an emphasis on the three lovers and allows for an interesting development as the play
Of course, with Mannerism, an unrealistic palette is one of the many characteristics that goes with it. I think that the scene portrayed is quite sad and emotional, and the colors don’t really reflect that but instead steers that emotion away by giving you colors that represent a different emotion. Although the palette is not as off putting as Jacopo Pontormo’s Descent from the Cross, you can still see a similarity on the way Fontana didn’t execute the color selection properly. The blue used for the sky in the background seems a little vibrant along with the rest of colors throughout the piece, besides earth tones. The piece seems to be a bit on the cool tone side, but it is mixed with some warm tones as well, maybe by adding more warmth in to it we would’ve gotten a better tone
Looking to his left, are his friends, family, and companions waiting for their execution. In this artwork, each individual deals with their emotions differently. Some cover their eyes, some of them kneel down and pray, and some look up to the sky, staring to heaven. Now to the right of this man is a pile of Spaniards that have been killed before him and the others. This pile of dead Spaniards shows how this pile of these dead victims will multiply in size quickly.
Character Sketch on “The Robe” In the story “The Robe” by Lloyd C. Douglas, Marcellus Lucan Gallio, a Roman Tribune, who has done his public duty carries out the Crucifixion of Christ and wins Christ’s garment in a game of dice. Marcellus has abandoned the worship of Gods, unlike his noble servant, Demetrius, who desire to keep the Robe, felt his enslavement to Marcellus is a participation in the destruction of Jesus and escapes with the Robe. As the story progresses, Marcellus guilt at the role he played in Christ’s Crucifixion has been troubling him, he then sets forth on a quest to find the truth about the Nazarene’s robe. Over time, Marcellus quest reaches to the very roots and heart of Christianity and is set in a spiritual longing and ultimate redemption.
The feeling of ending ones life should not bring positive emotions or cleansed feelings. So I used the brown to excentuate those emotions. The red makes the concept of murder pop out and goes well with the image and comic strip itself. I do not believe that it violates any conventions but it does carry an appeal to the audience using ethos and
The mood of this painting is nurturing and humble. The painting is more life like the any other portrait of Mary and Jesus because Jesus does not have a halo on his head and his
The use of lighting and filters for colours is not just used for simple illumination but it is more meaningful. It helps to understand the characters and focus our attention on certain objects and actions. The colour can be used as a motif, an occurring manifestation in which the shades themselves become an important part of the story, reflecting emotions, altering situations and underlining scenes. (Bordwell, Thompson and Smith, n.d.)
A monochromatic color palette is often used to show tranquility and integrity. On the other hand, the background turns to a caliginous shade of blue or even black in the panel directly before the violence erupts. Also in both scenes, the character that is widely accepted is noticeably larger than the one that is getting their identity questioned. The security guard (page 15) at the party towers over The Monkey King, showing how he has more power. Similarly, Danny is also a good amount taller than
This is what I tried to convey in the close up of Kayla laying on her bed after finishing with her client. I used blues and purples with a dark colour palette, to show her thought, indifference and her contempt for what she does. However, although the blue colour and tone is important, I toned it down from the original shot to give a darker look to the film as I think a darker but colourfully saturated palette created the mood and theme we wanted to create. It being turned down conveys the idea of indifference and contempt better than a colourful more vibrant blue would do. I felt it was too stylised leading to an unnecessary distraction.
A varied balance between the symbolic and realism has been struck world over by the painting. In the fifteenth century Western painting began to turn from its age- old concern with spiritual realities towards an effort to combine this spiritual expression with as complete an imitation as possible of the outside
Therefore, the color can give audiences totally different feeling when the director use different type of color in different moments because the colors can present characters’ emotions even the characters do not need any
