Imperialism is a stronger country taking over a weaker country, Imperialism is defined as a policy of extending a country’s power and influence through diplomacy or military force. In the 1800 Africa was divided into many different groups. In the 1880s, European controlled only about ten percent of Africa's land, travel into Africa was very difficult due to the fact that they couldn't navigate African Rivers. One effect of imperialism was Western education; many are not sure if this was a good or a bad effect because civilized colonies got their education, but since it was Western education it gave the colonies ideas of Liberty.
