First I want to explain what the Transcontinental Railroad was; it was a railway line that connected the East United States to the West Coast. 2,000 or more miles of tracks were hand laid and it’s said it was completed on May 10, 1869. This railroad had many positive and negative effects; a few positive ones are; it improved on safe and fast transportation, quick spread of ideas, the boost on trade, and the United States expanded in areas that weren’t settled before. Some negative ones are; Intrusion on the Native Americans happened and racism increased as a society. A lot of changes happened in America.
