I would also not be surprised if some of these guards especially Roy Lohan develops post-traumatic stress disorder. The guards go to work not knowing what stunt the prisoners will pull or what injuries they could sustain. The guards cannot look weak or act weak. I would describe them going into work in a battle mode. They shut down all emotions and become robotic. They repeat the same tasks over and over again. In this movie, the prison guards all wearing a blank face. They carry the day’s battle scars home and are confronted by it at all hours. It also depicts how detached the outside world is to the prisoner. The entrance to the outside world seems so far away with many barriers. When he is thrown into his cell, the camera methodically pans around the walls of the cell extremely slow. It shows the audience how unusually beautiful human fecal matter can be. In another scene, the fecal matters were spread in a hypnotic circle and the person washing it stared at it in awe.
