Potomac Park Observation

The following paper is an elaboration of an observation made on sexual interaction when I visited the Potomac Park. The park is a public recreation facility which is located in Washington, DC amidst high rise building and the busy city life. It is among the few places where one can find a peaceful picnic atmosphere for rest. The park is frequently visited during the lunch break when people are away from their offices of work and during weekends. It is a tourist destination which is highly visited by both the local and the international tourists.

Another interesting spot was when I came across a woman who was seated on the laps of a man who was seated on the grass. The two seemed to enjoy the park setting as they talked. They had packed lunch, which from my observation was some takeaway food from a fast food chain the Kentucky Fried Chicken (K.F.C) that is what I read from the small bag of food which was placed near them. The couple called in a photographer who took photos of the two at different settings within the park during and after eating. The couple also took photos win different styles, I mean while standing to hold each other, the woman sitting on the male laps, the two holding each other standing and finally the man carrying the lady. From the observations, there is a clear indication of the interaction of men and women in the society. From the psychology of human sexuality, one can be able to draw some conclusions by romance, the sexual attraction the need for one to be appreciated and wanted, and self-esteem which is accompanied by sexual interactions and relationships (Rosenthal,
