A large group of people worldwide has experienced some form of poverty even if they don't know it. They range from children to teenagers, and even adults. Some aspects of poverty could be not having stable living conditions, unemployment, family, etcetera. According to the National Center for Children in Poverty, over 49.39 million people in the United States live below the federal poverty line. That means that these people are growing up without access to necessities like food, shelter, and healthcare. Poverty has always been a huge part of the United States history and has always been a huge issue in the nation. The reason for this is the fact that many residents who live in the United States are low-income people or families. Poverty has taken different shapes throughout the history of the United States going back to the great depression, the civil war, World War II, and much more. So I will discuss the evolution of poverty and how it has evolved throughout the years. So a huge era of poverty in the United States was throughout the 1950s and the 1960s. It states “In the late 1950s, the poverty rate was approximately 22%, with just shy of 40 million Americans living in poverty”(Fay 2021). So you may ask what would be the solution to one of the biggest problems in the world is by Eliminating poverty through equality. The reason for this is stated “One of the main causes of poverty is inequality. The systemic barriers that lead to groups of people going without representation in their communities leave them further behind in terms of resources and opportunities. In order for a community” (Concern Worldwide US 2020). This shows how the solution to poverty has to start with equity being far and showing respect towards one another.
