Oscar Deolarte Social Studies:3, English:2 2/22/16 Relocation Camps Unjustified On December 7, 1942 the Japanese attacked an American naval base on Hawaii called Pearl Harbor. This surprise attack on the Pacific fleet left the West Coast open to a potential attack which could have no retaliation due to the decimated fleet numbers. The U.S government then issued Executive Order 9066, which required the relocation of the Japanese and anyone of Japanese descent living in the U.S. That leads us to the controversy surrounding the evacuation. Was the relocation of Japanese-Americans during World War II justified?

They were places where each side would keep most of their Prisoners of War, or more commonly known as P.O.W.’s, incarcerated. Many ships and planes were destroyed and 1,178 soldiers and sailor wounded and 2,388 killed from this attack. Two months after the attack, U.S President Franklin D, Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 ordering all Japanese-American to evacuate the West Coast. This resulted in 120,000 Japanese ancestry, both alien and non-alien, to be evaluated to one of ten internment camps located across the country.
This was such a tragic time in history and we should all be thankful that our world isn 't like this. The Concentration Camps were made because Hitler hated the jews and wanted to kill all and they were kind of brainwashing them to tell them it is a wonderful place to live. When they were making the camps the Nazis would go around just shooting people for no reason. So Hitler and the Nazis captured the majority of the Jews and put them into these camps saying they should be here and that they deserve to died and it is all their fault.
