744 Words3 Pages

The world stood still as the power of the Saturn V rocketed Apollo 11 toward the Moon. 5 F-1 engines burst out flames and thrusted the rocket into orbit. The Saturn V was the most powerful rocket of that era. Now NASA has plans of a more powerful rocket. The Space launch system or the SLS for short. The Space Launch System is the rocket that will land people on Mars. This is the rocket of the future. There will be no other like it. The Space Launch System is designed for deep space travel. Some day may bring Humans into deep space. “A new era of space exploration supported by a new mega-rocket and a spacecraft designed to deliver humans into deep space” (Rosen Space.com). The new era of spacecraft will allow NASA to go farther than they have ever been able to go. Reaching new galaxies and …show more content…

Giving NASA scientist new and unknown data and scientific information for study. The Space Launch System is also versatile. It’s able to change to meet the requirement for a successful flight. “NASA currently envisions the SLS in two configurations: one weighing 77 tons and able to lift more than 154,000 pounds, another weighing 143 tons and able to lift more than 286,000 pound” (Rosen Space.com). The Space Launch System is able to carry a large payload into orbit and into deep space. Giving NASA the option to go anywhere and study anything. “Offering more payload mass, volume capability and energy to speed missions through space than any current
Erwin 5 launch vehicle, SLS is designed to be flexible” (NASA.gov). The Space Launch System will let NASA make any trip into space anywhere no matter the payload or distance. The Space Launch System will allow NASA to take different payloads such as satellites to distant planets such as Saturn to study the
