The power point presentation involved several aspects of the professional and the role of advanced practice registered nurse (APRN). I presented the presentation to my co-workers directly following are Emergency Department (ED) monthly staff meeting. Unfortunately, there was low turn this month and I only had 12 participants who attended the presentation. The audience included eight registered nurses, three nursing assistants, and one emergency physician. Majority of the participants remained after the staff meeting for the presentation, which was not a mandatory part of the staff meeting. I even received a comment that I was much more confident in presenting at the staff meetings and other work related presentations. The lowest ranking in audiovisual was contributed to the viewing on my home laptop. I thought about reserving a conference room for the presentation, but knew the turnout would have been lower if I did not present at staff meeting. For any future presentations, I will ask the ED leaders if we could have the meeting in one of the conference rooms for better viewing. In regards to the thirty minute time frame set by the ED director, I received a comment that should have presented a 20 minute power point and saved 10 minutes for questions and answers. During the presentation I had a few questions and I should have asked in the beginning that all questions refrain until after the presentation. I also should have passed the evaluations out before the presentation with the brochure, might have received 100% participation and increase in comments.
