As the end of my time at Prairie Ridge High School draws near, I have begun to reflect on how my life has changed throughout the course of the two short years that I have spent at this school. Prairie Ridge is the third―and last―high school that I have attended and it is safe to say that it is a school that I wish I had attended for the entirety of my high school career. From both an academic and personal aspect, I know that without the time that I have spent at Prairie Ridge, I would not be the person that I am at this moment.
In November of my sophomore year, my sister attempted to end her life, turning my world into a whirlwind of confusion, anger, and sadness. My family was devastated. Would it be just as miserable as my past high school experience? But little did I know that coming to Prairie Ridge would turn my life around completely. The upward trend in my high school career has been influenced by many factors. But one of the aspects that has been the most impacting on my life at Prairie Ridge are the various people that I have met. From my teachers to my classmates, the numerous people at this school are a mix of the most wonderful, kind, and encouraging people that I have ever encountered. One of the most memorable experiences that I have had at Prairie Ridge was my participation in a group for new students organized by two great counselors: Mr. Dusenske and Mrs. Berg. I am very thankful for this experience because I was able to become comfortable and happy at Prairie Ridge alongside other students with whom I could empathize. Furthermore, without the encouragement and kindness from my peers or the PR staff, I would not have felt the desire to succeed , nor would I have stepped out of my comfort zone to do
