When Narciso died, Ultima showed Antonio the harsh reality that comes with every human life. "Do not worry about Tenorio's threats, he has no manly strength to carry them out. He murdered Narciso because he ambushed him in cold blood, but he will not find me easy to ambush-" (189). Antonio understood her words and learned to avoid Tenorio no matter the struggle he went through. He never went against her words because he her words had powerful meaning behind them was pure truth.

Because of this event Fiver and Hazel go to visit the Chief Rabbit trying to convince him to have everyone in the warren leave because of this unknown danger that fiver has a feeling about. But the Chief Rabbit isn 't convinced that a danger is coming and that he should evacuate the warren. But Hazel believes his brother Fiver
John Steinbeck published Of Mice and Men in 1937, portraying two struggling migrant workers on their tiring journey; George and Lennie. This narrative hugely reflects the time period in which it was written, since it was the time of The Great Depression (in the 1920-30s) where the stock market crashed. Therefore little jobs were available to citizens and those that were most probably meant travelling rather long way. This ties into Of Mice and Men through the concept of George and Lennie doing to work on the ranch. Also within this historical period there was a lot of prejudice, inequality and discrimination, Steinbeck intentionally mirrors these themes effectively.
In the book Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck, takes place in Soledad California and follows George and Lennie. George and Lennie, who has a cognitive disability had to walk to their new job. They arrived at the Farm and meet all the men, among these people is Candy. He tells them about Curley’s wife and how flirty she is, and George tells Lannie to stay away from her. They also learn that since they were there late the boss took his anger out on an African American man named Crooks.
Both Of Mice and Men and The Pearl are literary pieces from the author John Steinbeck. One (OMAM) contains two main characters, George and Lennie who are two people living in the Great Depression just trying to make a little money by working on a farm. Lennie is big in stature but due to a mental disability, needs assistance from George just to do basic tasks. On the other hand, George is a small, skinny man who took it upon himself to take care of Lennie after his aunt died.
“Ideas are like rabbits. You get a couple and learn how to handle them, and pretty soon you have a dozen.” This quote demonstrates that once a person has an idea about a person pretty soon they will have many, not all of them true. Of Mice and Men is a story about two men, Lennie who has a mental disability, and George is a friend of Lennie’s that feels responsible for Lennie. After meeting with the boss they go into the bunk house where they meet Curley’s wife, who attempts to flirt with them.
As an individual in a society with conflict everywhere, differing between personal and religious beliefs can often be burdensome. Making sure the best option is chosen is very important for Antonio in this novel due to his family being torn on what he should become. Many people with strong religious beliefs can also claim that they have been torn between choosing what is right for one. Making that decision can be hard for an individual from a strong religion, I do relate to being torn between choosing which is best for me.
This scene in the novel causes Antonio to feel like an outsider and not someone that belongs with the other kids, solely because of how different he is. This clash of culture causes Antonio to become emotionally scarred which changes him. One change is that he learns a valuable lesson that he should not run away from his problems because not only could it shame his family name and make them all distraught, but it isn't not the right action to do. The culture and environment that come with the American school system clash with Antonio’s culture from home and youth, causing a major change in him. This change however does not negatively affect him, in fact it is probably the reason he becomes the way he is later in the story.
Intolerance is prevalent throughout the outsiders and the house of the scorpion. Even though they are different types of intolerance they are still relevant, especially to today’s society. There are many types of intolerance, a few of them are; intolerance because of background, because of appearance, because of someone’s race and because of what someone is. The main types of intolerance in the house of the scorpion and the outsiders are, background and what someone is.
In the novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn the racist attitudes of the Deep South in the late 1800's are shown. Mark Twain portrays a runaway slave, Jim, as a racist caricature who does whatever is asked of him and exhibits little intelligence. The reader can initially see this through the use of the word "nigger" that is all throughout the book. In the modern 21st century this term is taken offensively, but in the 19th century this term was commonly used and Twain took advantage of it.
Rosa Parks once said, “Racism is still with us. But it is up to us to prepare our children for what they have to meet, and, hopefully, we shall overcome.” She describes that the future of our world has to be aware of things that have happened in the past, such as racism. The NAACP, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, is a civil rights organization that displayed their position on this certain situation. The NAACP position is correct in that Mark Twain’s un-sanitized version of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn should be taught because the book describes the important awareness of the historical oppression of people, it provides a value of morality from that time period that students should learn, and gives an important lesson about race that should be taught to students.
What if the world was still the same as it was back during the great depression. What if this was the truth. In To Kill a Mockingbird readers can see how prejudice affected people of color back then, and how it’s not so different from today. In the novel readers will find unfairness in court, hate crimes, and segregation. Today readers can still find these same issues, but in different forms.
