In the 1920s, racism of black people was a prominent issue of the United States; It included the Ku Klux Klan, riots, and segregation of the masses. Activists tried to denounce it including W.E.B. Du Bois and many others. To begin, the Ku Klux Klan were a group of white supremacists that thought the white race was the superior race. They denounced the Black race and many other groups of people including immigrants, Catholics, Jews and organized labor. “The KKK was founded in the 1866 and extended into every southern state by 1870. The Klan was involved in many violent activities on those who challenged white supremacy”(Ku). These violent activities included beatings, shootings, lynchings and rapes. Unfortunately the world doesn't quite work that way. In the world we livin today there is still hatred against minorities and other groups of people. Secondly, riots in the 1920s were a major problem especially because whites stormed into black neighborhoods and burned, looted, and killed whomever they found. “Most of the riots took place in the northern cities because, World War one accelerated the movement of blacks from the south to the northern cities. Blacks and whites fighted for jobs adding to the enormous amount of tension that was already present”(assumption). Some might say so what. Did the riots prove anything other than determination and grit can get you through obstacles that might be bigger than the world itself.
