The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines prejudice as “a preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience.” The word “prejudice”, is similar to its Latin root, “praejudicium”, which means “judgment in advance.” Prejudice is a prevalent issue that has led to many other issues throughout history like racism, sexism, classism, etc. Even though prejudice causes a divide in society, people can not help but judge others based on their looks, personal beliefs, etc. In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, characters like the Radleys and Dolphus Raymond are constantly the talk of the town, even though no one really knows anything about them.
