In the article “The Use of ICT in Preschool Music Education” by Christina Panagiotakoua, and Jenny Pangea we read about two study methods in which children were tested to see what music activities were most efficient to use. The main idea of this was to teach the students how to distinguish musical instruments by listening to them and clicking on the image that they believed belonged with the sound. There were two separate case studies that took place the first one allowed the students that were selected to participate in the study to use a computer with a mouse, the second allowed the students to use automatic movement recognition technology. There was a total of 28 preschoolers that where entered in these studies between the ages of 4-6 with …show more content…
This is why it is very important that at young age children are able to recognize the different sounds of music instruments. This allows children to have new ways to engage and develop a series of different skills, that they will use throughout their whole education. There is a lot of learning styles that students learn by, we cannot assume that all students will learn the same, so because of studies like this we are able to see that many children learn in different ways such as Visual, Aural, Verbal, Physical, etc. By performing these studies, the authors are able to give an idea of how young children are learning to express themselves through the use of music. Regardless of the importance, children have the opportunity to see different areas that will allow them to grow in their academic success. The use of ICT activities are less common then we think in preschools even now in today’s time. “Computer music activities can have a positive impact, as long as the child is able to connect their virtual experience to the real world (Nardo, 2008) (Pg. …show more content…
Analyzing the data that the authors provide for us we get to see a better view of how the students responded to each case and allows us to make a set of different conclusions about what we can implement in the future classrooms of preschoolers so that they can have a better outcome as they grow and learn about music. The results in each case study prove a different point, and allow us to see that some of these children had a better outcome in one study then the other. By giving children at this young age the opportunity to explore different types music sounds we are contributing to the child’s learning, creativity, and cognitive
