Drug abuse can be very scary, especially when it's prescribed drugs. Prescription drug abuse is a very common thing within society. This is when people uncontrollably and excessively use what is called psychoactive drugs. “Prescription Drug abuse flared up in the early 1990s” ( Feinstein). During this time they had mental hospitals and different ways to treat the abuse. Over time this issue has gotten worse as more drugs were discovered and more people started using them. Drug abuse can affect anyone, it has become a big issue in society and has become out of control. “drug-related deaths have doubled since 2000. As of 2017, one in four deaths in the United States can be attributed to alcohol, tobacco, and illegal and prescription drug use” …show more content…

These programs share different teaching techniques for schools, different interventions for the drug abusers and referrals to places that can help people recover. When people use their sources that are provided to them through communities it can help control the rise of drug abuse, and it can help others realize the wrong in it “By adding violence prevention to the original act, Congress foresaw the need to address the growing presence of violence in elementary and secondary schools.”(Gordon). People have improved a lot after treatment for drug abuse, sure there are some who report using after treatment but “80 percent of patients report benefiting from completing drug and alcohol rehab” (Manwarren). Research shows that taking action with drug abuse and recovering can help someone not just in the present but also in someone's future. A very realistic reason to how you can prevent drug abuse, going to rehab and getting help can really impact someone's life. It's important to go to rehab if someone is struggling with prescription drug abuse because this type of drug abuse isn't like the others.
