Ella Reynolds Professor Griffiths REL C 225 Sec 017 March 19 2024 Prescription for Peace In August of 1833, Joseph Smith wrote a letter in response to Oliver Cowdery’s letter of concern regarding the rising troubles for the Saints in Missouri. The letter contained revelations from God that would help the Saints in their time of strife. During the time this revelation was given, the Saints were being persecuted and threatened by their neighbors in Jackson County. This included Bishop Partridge being tarred and feathered, the press being destroyed, and many threats to remove the Saints forcibly if needed (The Missouri Persecutions).
