Dilemma in Primary Mathematics
Group work to measure performance of students versus individual assessment

Judging from the number of articles on the topic there has been an explosion in the volume of ‘group-based’ learning, and especially of group project work of various kinds, since a survey of group assessment in higher education the mid-1990s found very modest levels of group learning and assessment (Lejk and Wyvill, 1997).numerous people consider that working within groups is easier than working individually since everybody has something to teach as well as gain knowledge from each other. Since it is the responsibility of the teacher to notice with the intention that no child is left behind or ignored during the learning as well as teaching process .Major assessment programs are established to design group assessment tasks within which smaller groups of student work together towards solving problems or completing projects .at the same time as teachers it is complicated to assess students individually or in groups. Students’ measure their own role as well as their peers by establishing set of criteria. Individual student assess others input by using a programmed list of criteria.
