Joshua Rabideau 11/10/2016 BIOL 380 – Lab: Monday Black-Capped Chickadee Foraging Habits There are numerous organisms and interactions occurring within any ecosystem. Many times, the interactions between organisms and habitats are based on the energy needs of the organisms. In this experiment, a null hypothesis that the Black-capped Chickadee forages on various trees at random. Upon data analysis of the gathered information, it can be determined that the Black-capped chickadee were not choosing foraging sites at random. The results of a chi square test gave a value of 19,890 which is significantly larger than the 16.812 value needed to void the null hypothesis with six degrees of freedom; the probability that this variation was due to chance is less than .01.
Response to Literature Anchor paper Dakota kowalczyk Tears of A Tiger Tears of a tiger by Sharon M.Draper. Uses many different ways to make the book easier to relate to understand one of these being the conflict itself. This book is about a teenager named Andy and how him and his friends deal with the death of their best friend Rob after he dies in a terrible car accident , the accident was caused by Andy and his buddies drinking and driving. After the car crash things only get worse for Andy as he tries to deal with the depression.
Prompt 2 I believe that Sharon Levy presents her text about protection of wolf populations better than Ed Yong’s text. She displays more statistical facts about how wolves are being hunted and trapped on a regular basis. For example, she says in line 15, “ In Alaska, up to 50 percent of wolves are shot or trapped every year, with little effect on their numbers.”
One of the things that makes the Lions of Little Rock such a revolutionary and fruitful novel for theme is how it plays with the ideas of freedom. The main character Marlee starts off the novel with a reluctant and cynical perception of community, but decides to make a change after meeting Liz. Liz provides to Marlee what not even she can, and that’s the receptive comfort of loving Marlee for who she is. Liz, at least to me, is one of the most cultured and thorough characters to be penned in a book because she invokes a sense of real happiness. One beautiful example that ties the two together is when they are separated.

1. Recently, the death of Cecil the Lion has made international headlines. Do a search for news coverage of the story and respond to the following questions: The murder of Cecil the Lion generated a lot of popularity, I saw this name everywhere, it was on the news channel, on my timeline on twitter. It even showed up on my snapchat where the people I followed used the 15 second video app to express their disgust with the events. It was interesting to see the uproar, because this is not the first time a lion has been hunted and killed, animals have been treated brutally by humans for centuries.
The poems "Where the Mountain Lion Lay Down with Deer" by Leslie Marmon Silko and "Sleeping in the Forrest" by Mary Oliver are the two that I have chosen to compare. These poems are similar in theme because they are both written about nature, darkness, sleep, water, and memory. In the mountain lion poem, the narrator refers to her ancestors from the past who remember the lion 's birth and life story and how they have disappeared now (Silko 1973). In the poem "Sleeping in the Forrest" the narrator refers to how the earth remembered her by how willingly and tenderly it took her back (Oliver 1979). The poems both compare water in a way in which relates how they are struggling with who they have become in the world.
The title “A Lifeline for Lions” does relate to the passage, as they share the concept of saving the lives of many lions. The passage is focused on project Life Lion, a project that started when a national park in Africa started having various animals, especially lions, suffer from distemper. Thousands of animals passed away because of the distemper outbreak. The title focused on the passage in a whole and way similar to a thesis statement. The challenging years of early adolescence links childhood with adulthood in baffling ways that many youngsters wish to avoid. In The Secret Lion, written by Alberto Rios, symbolism is widely used to reveal the lessons that the narrator learns, along with his friend Sergio, as they try retaining childhood while stepping into the monotonous world of adulthood. Although the arroyo is a filthy river polluted by sewage, the rebellious boys consider it as their “Mississippi”. The narrator frequently refers to the arroyo as “... the one place we were not supposed to go”, portraying their rebellion side to readers as they go there anyway since it was the only place where they obtained freedom from the “changing” world.
Lion is an Incredible and Inspiring movie, it based on true story, and deserves an Academy Award for best picture. It tells about a 5-year-old boy named Saroo. He is a slum-dweller, he always gets along with his brother Guddu, who does odd jobs to earn money while his mother works as a laborer. They may be poor, but they are a happy bunch until one day, Saroo insists his brother Guddu to take him along for a night job. The 5-year-old gets tired and is left on the station platform by his brother to rest.

The movie, The Lion King, includes several different demonstrations of leadership theories. By following the story of a young lion, whose father is the king, and their “pride” or community, the film shows an array of different leadership approaches from two main leaders (Allers and Minkoff). The most prominent leaders in The Lion King are Mufasa, the king of the “pride lands” and the main character’s father, and Scar. Scar is Mufasa’s bitter and jealous brother that rules over the hyenas just outside of the “pride lands” (Allers and Minkoff). Between these two, very different leaders, the situational approach, the path-goal approach, and the transformational approach are all applied.

1. Name of video and Discussion of Main Characters: The Motion picture Secondhand Lions has three fundamental characters, which prolong amid the entire movie. First, there is a 14 year-old boy named Walter Caldwell who is an introverted young boy who doesn’t trust adults as he supposes will deceive him because of his mother. Secondly, there are his two uncles named Hub and Garth, whom are withdrawn bachelors and uncles to Walter.
The question of the necessity of zoos is extremely controversial nowadays. There are many people who advocate for replacing them with sanctuaries as they believe money spent on keeping wild animals captive might have been used for conserving them in wild. Others are concerned that zoos serve not only for people's pleasure but for preserving and keeping populations that otherwise would go extinct. There are sufficient arguments for both points of view, expressed in various articles that are dedicated to the significant topic. “Do elephants belong in zoos?” by Jeffrey P. Cohn and “Eight reasons why zoos are good for conservation” by James Borrell are the examples of such articles.
